Grandpa’s Mustard

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup (75 ml) granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp (45 ml) dry mustard powder
  • 2 tbsp (25 ml) cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp (1 ml) turmeric
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup (250 ml) 10% cream
  • 2 tbsp (25 ml) vinegar

Instructions

In top of double boiler, mix sugar, mustard, cornstarch and turmeric. Whisk in egg, then cream and cook until thickened, whisking continually. Remove from heat, stir in vinegar. Pour into small jars and store in refrigerator.

Makes 1 1/2 cups (375 ml)
